AI Coding Task Developer

About OpenTrain OpenTrain is the 1 platform for finding and building careers in AI training and data labeling. OpenTrain AI hires and contracts contributors for projects that help shape how modern AI systems learn, reason, and perform. - Apply in minutes with a free OpenTrain account - Build experience in a fast-growing AI training industry - Work remotely on projects that contribute to cutting-edge AI development About AI Training Work AI training is the human side of building artificial intelligence. People create examples, evaluate system behavior, and develop structured tests that help AI models become more capable and reliable. Coding task development is a specialized form of this work, combining software engineering with careful evaluation design. - Help models learn to implement features, fix bugs, and reason about code - Create realistic training examples based on real-world software development - Contribute remotely with flexible hours and workload The Role OpenTrain AI is recruiting an AI Coding Task Developer to create realistic, interesting, and challenging coding tasks for next-generation AI models. You will design tasks focused on feature implementation and bug fixes, then build deterministic verifier scripts that accept correct solutions and reject incorrect ones. This is a remote, part-time contractor role for approximately 15 hours per week. You set your own hours and days, including weekends if desired. The role is open to candidates worldwide, and selected experts are expected to start within 24 to 48 hours of completing onboarding. - Contractor and part-time engagement - Approximately 15 hours per week - Flexible schedule with self-selected hours and days - Remote work open to candidates worldwide - Expected start within 24 to 48 hours after onboarding What You'll Do You will apply backend engineering expertise to produce high-quality coding data for AI training. The work requires precise task design, reliable automated evaluation, and collaboration with the project team to refine difficulty and quality. - Create realistic coding tasks focused on feature implementation and bug fixes - Design interesting and challenging problems for AI systems to solve - Implement deterministic verifiers that distinguish correct and incorrect solutions - Use backend engineering experience to produce high-quality real-world training data - Collaborate with the project team to refine task difficulty - Help ensure coding tasks and verifier scripts meet quality standards Required Skills and Assessment Candidates will be assessed on backend development experience, software quality practices, and the ability to turn engineering problems into clear, automatically verifiable challenges. The role is listed as entry level, but the work requires strong practical technical skills in one or more supported programming languages. - Strong backend development experience in Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Python, C++, or a similar language - Track record building scalable services and APIs - Comfort with debugging, performance work, and automated testing - Solid code review instincts - Understanding of secure coding principles - Ability to create realistic, clear, and unambiguous coding challenges - Ability to implement deterministic automated verifiers Helpful Background Additional experience can help you evaluate complex software behavior and create more demanding coding tasks. Strong problem-solving and technical communication are also important for explaining requirements and refining task quality. - Cybersecurity experience - Penetration testing - Vulnerability assessment - Security code reviews - Codebase refactoring - Implementing complex features in large-scale applications - Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills Compensation and How to Apply This is an hourly contractor role with an expected rate of $30 to $100 per hour, based on experience and efficiency. Minimum submission requirements apply. The work is conducted in English, and qualified candidates can apply through OpenTrain. - $30 to $100 per hour - Hourly contractor compensation - English-language work - Minimum submission requirements apply - Apply through OpenTrain
